The Client
Naval Academy , premier training institution in India for Naval officers .
The Challenge
The Academy is responsible for training of Naval officers in Indian Navy and Cost Guards . The cadets go through regorous training along with academic studies in general and service subjects. The various training activities has to co exist with the academic study schedules with various departments co-ordinating the workflow.Due to the hectic schedule ,it becomes important to avoid resource conflicts and give a realtime activity map that can be tracked down to the individual level.
The Solution
The academy has an impressive IT infrastructure. Our analysis pointed to an intranet based software with role based permissions for its users.The software was to provide an option for plotting the activities for the term with chosing of interest groups at the macro level .The micro level planning done by a weekly schedule where the classes could be plotted with intructors known to be taking them. On the other hand the support departments , which may be involved in the activites , alerted with the requirements from their part. The leave management feature provides a facility to know blank areas in advance and to take corrective measures.
The Result
The project was completed as per schedule with implementation level hitches were taken out during the training sessions with the users. It provides a comprehensive tool to the users to efficiently manage their time and resources of the base. The resource conflicts are avoided as ll engagements are plotted in the system , leading to oveall smoothening of workflow.
