The Client The Naval Aircraft Servicing Development Organization , undertakes the Servicing Development activities for all the diverse aircraft types of the Naval inventory. The role & function of NASDO is crucial to the Naval aviation aircraft maintenance, operation and support, Preparation of aircraft maintenance schedules, Ranging and Scaling.
The Challenge
Indigenization of aircraft spares is one of the major responsibilities of NASDO, Thus providing the spare details with the vendors producing the same with the location and contact details to the air stations, squadrons and ships. Provision of hard copy material was not an option considering the amount of data, intelligent search option needed, and frequency of updates required. Another aspect was the diverse locations users are spread. Other than internal sources data had to be gathered and compared and selected from native systems of external agencies like Indian Air Force (IAF) and Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd (HAL).
The Solution
We phased the project into a) data collection b) verification c) cleansing d) Augmenting e) software interfacing. As the data collected from other agencies were in distinct formats , they had to be brought in to a common standard . The identical fields were identified and imported into a common repository with a source details intact . the data was cleansed and duplicates where removed on the basis of intelligent matching criteria .this data made available to the users with a facility to use diverse queries for pattern matching and authentication. The identified impurities were cleansed with due care as to maintain the integrity of information. The cleansed data was linked in a relational model . The software interfacing was done keeping in mind the ease of use and logical linkages that the user might be interested in. The result The project was an instant success with the software hosted on the secured Naval WAN with users even from offshore assets using it. |
