Goa University

Goa University is Goa's premier University setup in 1985. It boasts of a widely intellectual infrastructure created at Taleigao Plateau, Goa - India. It was one of the youngest, but fastest growing universities in India.

Its presence on the web had been a far outcry of its youthfulness and expansive setup. There had been unplanned growth on the website which lead to a near chaotic situation on the site. They needed a way out.

Team Inertia Technologies was chosen among the other design firms in goa to overhaul & redesign the website. This project needed special attention as Goa University is the only university in goa & the site is viewed by academics across the world. Our analysis head was entrusted with the job of assessing Goa University needs, the bespoke content management solutions that would be required. Since the information is also managed by different departments, the solution here was a bit complex than usual.

The Web Design Team provided the computer centre with its first sketch of the website to decide on the aesthetics of the website. Since Goa has been synonymous with pristine blue water & white sandy beaches, they decided to go in for the white & blue theme.

The Web Development Team used a combination of PHP / MYSQL for this project & also one of our first AJAX implementations in Goa was introduced to create a tabbed news section that greets the website. Our resultant efforts has seen the begining of their new website www.unigoa.ac.in.

Our service were sought again during the Goa University Results of June 2007, when we built a module almost overnight to diplay individual students marks information. Since the website is also hosted on our Reliable Linux Server, we were faced with an traffic overload with nearly 5000 hits in a span of 5 minutes. Our 99.9% uptime Linux Server withstood this onslaught without any problems.
